The Real Reason Good Employees Quit

When you find the better opportunity than one which currently you are working with, the very first thing you do is to slide out the door without creating any fuss. You find there is no need to explain and share any more truth behind your quitting. You just say " I got an good opportunity and I cannot miss it", that's it!! 

Why so formal answers even you enjoyed working there since more than 2-3 years, even if you have good friendly colleagues? These are most common questions you are not really interested to answer. Because you never enjoyed your workplace nor you find your colleagues are friendly. So Of course, you do not feel to tell any other story as a reason for your leaving. This same attitude you show while reasoning to employer. The same employer who ignored your needs and values, taken you as granted or mistreated you, also does not deserve to listen from you. He missed the chance of getting free consultation from you.

The cost to the organization when good employees quit is hard to quantify. But employer realize this when he loses his best employee and still do not understand why the employee left. One of the biggest problems in the working is that invisible wall between what employees would like to say and what employer would stand to hear. 



When you work for a company where you think your values are not recognized, you can tell but when you understand your boss is not interested in your opinion, then what is the other choice than to find the other job. Nobody should stay in the organization that does not value your opinions and break your trust. There is no other major reason than this where employer or manager give chance the employee to start the job hunt. People do not want to job hunt, if organization respect your opinions, values, cares about your satisfaction at workplace then best employee would like to stay the best instead switching the current workplace. People are pushed to start job hunt after countless disrespect and insult build up overtime.

At the end of calendar year your boss commits you the excellent pay increase and a cherry assignment for the new year. In January, he says, the pay increase will be given in parts according to the performance on the given task. Then he gives you unrealistic ultimatum and finally avoids the commitment of pay increase. Here matter is not only about pay increase but the part of trust and rely is affected and ultimately negativity spreads. Of course people work for money but job satisfaction, respect, value consideration, individual opinion contributes lot to retain them. Unfortunately organization value less for such vital aspects.

Then why people should not think to go for the other opportunity. When you finally give the notice then your manager dares to ask you "Why you are leaving?" which does not have any serious meaning. Manager only thinks how organization can be benefited, how the revenue is generated. Even when you put the paper they will think how you will be used better and work would be complete before you leave. They cannot think they will be more benefited if they trust and build trust among each other which helps to make easier other related factors useful at workplace.

They slide out the powerful signals from the world-- signals that would help them, put efforts on them, contribute to their leaders, clients, customers,shareholders, at least then employer must tune into reality channel and start listening to the employees before they quit the organization.
