Erase The Negativity At Workplace
Negativity at workplace is commonly observed in the organization for which the root cause is improper management. Negativity like a news can spread through negative thoughts which employees feels in the work culture of the organization. Negativity can affect many aspects of organizational behavior and so it cannot be avoided or neglected. Workplace negativity is directly related to lower morale of employees and diverting the attention from their vision and performance. It also contributes in poor decision making.
Factors affecting Negativity and the solutions how it could be erased should be known and overcome for positive development:
(a) Lack of Trust
Trust building is important factor and be taken care for smooth functioning of organizational development. Lack of trust takes place when employees are kept unknown from the major organizational decisions. Also it is noticed when employees are not upgraded with new tasks and their performance is neglected. Building trust is not that difficult, minor factors such as; discussing issues or problems of organization with subordinates feels them to get involve and share their views which do help to overcome the situation. Trust to show them that they can take any responsibility encourage them to perform much better.
(b) Implementing New Decisions
New decisions are welcome by employees when the decisions implemented are accepted by all. The decisions where there is lack of employee satisfaction or if they affect the benefits then it gets connected towards thought of negativity. Employee satisfaction is important factor as ignoring it can affect their job satisfaction, performing ability, creativeness and will get discouraged. Every small changes should discuss or atleast inform them in the way they will get convince and not by hitting them on their head and shoulders. Acceptance can help people to think from the point of view of the organization and it makes them clear the vision.
(c) Communication Gap
Lack of communication or improper communication amongst management and employees is the other reason for negativity. Having frequent meetings, discussions, debates and feedback can increase communication and management will overcome with situation easily when the issues and problems are discussed and kept open for suggestions. These practices can build good communication at work place and improve coordination between each other but neglecting this small practice can give space for big negativity.
(d) Ignoring opinion
Feedback from a single employee is valuable. The feedback does not includes only appreciation or grievances. Feedback or sharing views can be in the way of demand or request or problems they face which should be considered to get fulfill from management. Ignoring these minor issues or opinions can spread negativity. If open minded views and suggestions are practiced organization will grow in the direction where actually employee want to have with.
(e) InEquality
Equality can be in the form of gender, ability or the hierarchy of the organization. Inequality can affect the work place badly where one employee is compared openly with the other. Gender inequality can affect the morale of the organization as it can be the emotional and democratic issue which should be strictly avoided. Inequality by comparing ability and capability of employees working together can show bad impact on their performance and ultimately on their efficiency which affects a lot for them individually and organizationally as well.
(f) Rewards and Incentives
As many times it is seen that rewards, appreciations or incentives plays an important role from the point of view of both employees and organization. Offering rewards or incentives for getting work done is not wrong until it is fulfilled by both the sides. Getting targets done and not giving rewards or incentives by putting financial reasons or the reasons which express that targets are not met as expected can be the major issue which shows organization does not believe on hard work, do not realize how much efforts have been put to achieve goals and this just required a second to come up with negative thoughts. Rewards and Incentives is not only the monetary benefit but it is the appreciation made which encourage and motivate employees to do better.
Above are some major factors where organization should have eye on to keep up positivity, sustainability in performance and getting best ever results. Negativity is just a thought if it gets clear at the moment it arise otherwise it may become the thinking or tendency to think about the organization which is also not good for the goodwill of the organization.
