The Reasons Your Resume Is Not Shortlisted

Why it's so late in getting a new job even having 5-6 years of experience? Why my resume is not viewed? Why not getting replies for the applications? Got rejected even I get an interview for jobs I'm clearly qualified for?

These are some common and head scratching questions in the mind of every job seeker who didn't get hired since 3-4 months despite being loaded with experience above 5 years. There can be multiple reasons on which we are not much serious about.

Resume is a document by which we sell our skills and talent to show the eligibility for the particular position. It is a first impression where your objectives, willingness, qualification and skills set are showcased. Now the question is whether they are eligible only in getting showed as in show piece or someone can pick them out wondering in getting used. Don't get confused in what to present first which makes resume attractive. Firstly make it clear the resume should not be attractive but should be presentable and marketable. This could be the primary step and can be taken into consideration before put your resume in the market.

There can be the possibilities why your resume is not viewed. Let's discuss some of them.




What happens when you apply in your favorite organization or the most reputed organization where everyone would wish to work and you found your resume is not even viewed.

1)  There may not be many so- called professional jobs as there once were, this because of altogether the reasons of outsourcing, automation, flexible work nature or outsourcing of payroll, This reduces the man power and becomes more tech friendly. It is cheaper to have two employees working instead five people in the staff.

2)  The good jobs people always prefer to stick to. Job satisfaction is the best feature attracts people to stuck with the organization. This may the other reason the companies are not with the frequent vacancies. 

3)  The resume title can always be the eye catching opportunity as per the respective profile. The appropriate title which disclose in short about your work profile and experience is always a lucky to math with the exact keywords. Ignoring this would result into getting neglected even your experience suits with the profile.

4)  Mostly people preferred to apply only on job postings which is really cannot be a good idea. Job postings consists of random skills which more or less everyone has. Here the recruiter is not interested to view n number of applications and may be the same your's is neglected. Try always to be connected with the recruiters with the help of websites or LinkedIn like sources, this increase the chances in getting replied.

5)  Another reason for not getting resume viewed or can be said as neglected in the case where your skills set doesn't match with the requirement. This mostly happens when you apply on website or apply through mail and you make mistake of applying without going through the relevant job descriptions, required skills and experience what exactly the organization expects and what you possess. Just looking for matching job title is not enough, people should be aware that in every organization the role varies according to the requirement even after the job title is same.

6)  Most common would be if there is no openings and still you keep posting your application thought of  getting consider.
